Help Advice please concerning 2.4 JTDm engine

As the title says I am looking for advice from owners who have had the following work done to their 2.4 JTDm. Mine is due for a cambelt/waterpump change soon and it has been recommended to me to have the EGR valve blanked off and the ECU deletion. Also to have the inlet manifold replaced with one that has the swirl flap deleted and the holes welded up.
What difference does this make to the performance and drive if you have had these jobs done and does it affect the emmisions for an MoT?
Any advice gratefully accepted as this is my first diesel powered car of any make......

Don't think you mean an ECU delete, but rather DPF delete (have it cored rather than removed to ass MOT), otherwise Do it, think the manifold is probably the most optional part

closing the egr valve stops the manifold be choked up with soot, the manifold swirl flaps are know to fail, they leak causing idling and starting problems and they can break off and go into the engine requiring a rebuild. With thses two done and a remap your car will be producing around 240BHP and is fine passing emissions.

the DPF coring, the metal can still needs to be in place will stop the car needing regenerations which improves its reliability but the car is then spraying sooty deposits everywhere. with all three of things done the car should be as reliable as a VW passat
