Thanks for all the replies and info
....which would not be difficult. I think the a/c 'system' on 156s consisted solely of a switch that lit up the snowflake symbol!
I was hoping to get around to these tasks in peace and without haste. However it seems (by the shear amount of calls at least) that this evening my GT might leave me.
This means the jobs will have to be done around weekends, well the ones such as the brakes/discs and wheel refurb (which now I might just pay someone to do the refurb).
We will see, two people seeing the GT tonight and both might not be interested/offer silly money.
Phil as for a comparison between the GT an the 159.
- The good.
Best front seats in the world. Better than any seat I have ever sat in, inside a car or out.
Handling (for me) in the GT is superb. I would have chose it over my (ex) F355 on an A-road. In the wet I reckon the GT would have shown it a clean pair without issue. Maybe not quite in the dry but it would not have been far behind (this is with me driving and not a Stiggy chap).
- The Bad
Front suspension. The OEM bushes are made from good Italian Cheese.
Front suspension. They make the droplinks out of the same cheese.
Front suspension ARB's..
Clunking (Above ARB's I think).
Hard ride. Bloody harder than the Ferrari was. Yes it is that bad!
Met black paint, it never looks clean for more than an hour.
- The Good
That 2.4, 5 cylinder engine.
A smooth quiet soft[er] ride.
The angled towards you dash.
That front end.
I also just prefer the rear of the 159 over the GT, Miss Dodd (my better half) disagrees with that. She also prefers the grey leather and dash in the GT to the cream (and gold metal trim, it's not silver!) in the 159.
Flat black paint seems better, though the 159 has been mopped recently.
I've only had the 159 a little while though and it does need a little work. I love how it drives though
I was going to either wrap or PlastiDip the GT red, I think, or at least a paint reconditioning (professionally). I would have fixed the A/C next year. It also needs glow plugs replacing. It errors on the display.
