I've had my 2.2 Brera since May 2006 and as it has a very easy life, having only covered 34,000 miles, I was planning to keep it for another nine years as I think it's a great car.
As well as work done under warranty,
I've replaced broken springs with Eibachs,
treated all the underside with Bilt H,
fabricated an aluminium under-tray,
replaced all four steering joints (the power steering fluid is the wrong colour but I have left well alone),
fitted new non return valves to the headlamp washers,
re-sealed a leaking SV,
repaired faulty column stalks,
repaired failed third brakelight,
repaired broken sun visor,
replaced a split brake hose.
I have yet to sort out the dodgy rear parking sensors and diagnose a slight misfire when cruising, the latter I thought might have been linked to the nine year old battery but, according to other posters, this cannot be the case.
Now today, when reversing into my garage I noticed the reversing light, brake lights, and even the interior light were flickering/pulsing. Could this be the battery, the alternator or something more sinister such as an ECU?
I'm starting to think that maybe this is not the car to keep for another nine years, unless someone can advise me that my latest problem is a simple fix.
Over the last five years I've had a lowly Ford Kuga as my main motor and covered twice the miles, and have had to do nothing other than replace a blown fuse.
