Key code reader ignition switch
I've been having a rare issue with starting over the last few months. Putting the key in brings all the lights up, but occasionally it just dies without turning over. If I take the key out and reinsert, it'll fire up. This has become more frequent the last 3 weeks, the main time I noticed it was when I jacked the front of the car up, but couldn't get it to start until I dropped it back down. This made me wonder about fuel cut off, but it wasn't exactly jacked up anymore than a steep driveway.
I had to reinsert 3 or 4 times for each start yesterday and finally last night, I tried about 15 times and it didn't want to do nothing other than put the lights on, make a few relay noises for a second or 2 then nothing.
Having read (can't find the threads) about replacing the ignition/key switch, I might go down that route, but they're £110 a piece and don't want to spend unnecessary funds. Also a new reader will need programming, I assume this can be done through paid version of MES?
The other thing I might try is replacing the clutch switch. I only read about this late last night, so haven't tried starting with the brake pedal yet.
Someone also mentioned they'd cleaned the earths up, I think under the battery. Again, I didn't save this thread, so if anyone could point out which ones to clean and if it's an undertray or battery tray out job.
I've read about fuel pumps not getting their charge and something not sending signals from the fuse box and being bypassed.
So if you had to shoot a guess from the symptoms?
I'd like to fix ASAP otherwise Wife will be driving the GT, she lacks suspension respect.
I should add that the battery is absolutely fine.
