Got to agree with Symon,
if you noticed it then there is probably an issue.
If the bearings have been replaced then how do you know there wasn't also an issue with the gear cogs? (which might not have been replaced and are now a massive weak spot!)
Or perhaps the bearing end cap hasn't been replaced?
This is only my personal opinion (which has been formed by personal experience) but with the benefit of hindsight I would walk away.
If you were worried when you test drove it you will never stop worrying and if it does go horribly wrong you will regret your decision until you have finished paying for the repairs. (and then you might start worrying all over again like I did!)
You could always take the advice of the guy who thinks 1.9 JTDm drivers generally break their gearboxes because we drive them wrong.......
but good luck with that if you drive like everyone else.
Rather than spend more later to have the gearbox fixed spend a bit more now and get a 2.4 or 2.0
(I could be wrong though, it could last forever, but whether it's worth the risk is your decision, not ours)
(I've tried to attach 3 pics to this comment, not sure if it's worked, will find out when I hit 'Submit Reply' I'm enjoying the suspense!)
Yay, It worked. :-)
