Steering Controls 159
Hello to all
I've recently purchased a 09 159 TI. This car had an eclipse after market head unit installed but the steering controls were not working. I tried many things to try and get the contols to work. I read on many forums that the eclipse system was not supported by can bus adapters that are available to fix this very issue. Anyway I decided to buy an android head unit with can bus input that was guaranteed to work with the 159. I installed and still no steering wheel control. I know the steering wheel controls run on the can bus system. I ran a can bus check with multiscan software. Here is something that stood out.
[U][B]Receiver Radio/Radio Navigator Node (NRR/RMN): Not present
The car has no usb port so I'm assuming it was the basic setup from factory no blue and me was ever installed.
I'm assuming the radio was taken off the network when the new eclipse system was installed.
Here's what I'm thinking. Get my hands on a standard head unit and plugging it into the car and run the proxy alignment to get the radio present on the can bus network, then plugging the new head unit in hoping to have steering controls working. If anyone has had this same problem or has a solution for this issue please let me know. Thanks in advance.
