How to de-stink a Brera 159 Airconditioner (or How to remove a pollen filter)
I've been annoyed with the Brera's stinky air conditioner (you know, once it's switched off but fan still running). I know a few good threads on here about getting a can of special spray and running the car for 15 mins with the windows up, but i couldn't be bothered sourcing the special spray or paying the dealer $99 to have it done.
Anyway - i recall my mechanic mate (at a dealer) who said it's just a can of "Glen 20" disinfectant surface spray.
So, since i already had a can of that at home, i decided to try a slightly different approach by opening up the pollen cleaner compartment and spraying half a can directly into the innards of the piping. Why only half? Because that's all i had left. I would have used a whole can if i had it, but to be honest, half a can worked fine.
Oh yeah, your car will smell pretty fragrant for a few days after - but i think it worked pretty well. It certainly reduced the smell in my Brera - if i was to give a percentage, i'd say it reduced the by 80-90% (with 100% being fully eliminated).
I thought someone else may benefit from this.
