Down on Power
I replaced the thermostat housing and temperature sender on my 06 159 1.9JTD 16v 150BHP. My temp gauge was reading 70 most of the time and rarely got up to 90. Good news is this seems to have worked as on the drive home from my friends shed it got up to 90 and stayed there.
Bad news is that almost immediately after leaving his place I heard a sort of a gasp noise (definitely air related) and the car was immediately down on power.
No lights or warnings on the dash. Turbo gauge reading zero all the time now, feels like driving a straight diesel too, no power.
Had a quick look for any signs of obvious splits in hoses etc, but nothing appears out of place.
Revving the car with bonnet open I can hear the turbo whistling, but while driving the engine sounds totally different to normal, no turbo noise and much lower grumble than usual.
Anyone have any idea where to start with this?
