Yes lussoman, if the timming wasn't set right when installing the chain it will also have that effect too. Don't want to put thoses ideas in your head though as i don't know the guy who did it, so can't comment on his work
Thanks mate, it does make sense that it's related.
The garage have done loads of these in Vetras, but I guess they didn't get it set spot-on with mine.
Obviously they tried to tell me it was fine as it's such a labour-intensive job to get back into it.
Guess there's little I can do about it now.
Like I say it revs to 2000 then drops straight down to 1000 almost as if you were just blipping the throttle yourself. I kind of have an on going battle with the car regarding to unsmooth running which at the moment it not an issue. But with a chain change both my variators and then an injector cleaning im thinking the best thing I can do is leave it alone for 1000 miles. Having said that Im going to change the gearbox oil this weekend.
No mine doesnt over rev during gear changes ive seen this on here as a complaint before. I have a slight whurring noise which is from the engine I believe, I can only hear it with the radio off, maybe a gearbox noise but it doesnt go if I press the clutch. most noticeable at 1-3 gears. I think this may be normal though does yours?
I had a noisy variator on my old twin-spark GTV - that sounded like a rattle, not dissimilar to the intermittent rattle I have now...
Yes, mine does make a 'whurring' noise, though I'd probably describe it as more of a 'hiss' and louder in 5th & 6th gears. Had it for years, and always suspected the gearbox but two specialsists aren't convinced it's the usual M32 saga...
A twitching gear stick is something to look out for as a possible M32 issue.
If it makes you feel better mine raised to 2000 before and after my chain was done. That was done at alfaworkshop.
Yes, it does make me feel better!
I can only think that the timing must be hard work to set up perfectly.
Alfaworkshop are highly respected so if they can't get it right it's no wonder I suspect my local garage had trouble.
