Problems with OBD Connector

Just had my Alfa serviced and the garage said they had problems connecting to the OBD socket so therefore weren't able to reset the service indicator. I suspect this also happened with a previous garage as the service indicator hadn't gone off anyway. I've had a quick look & it looks fine but from what they were saying, maybe one of the connections gets pushed back when they plug in. They spent quite a while on it & they managed to connect to another car no problem. How can I fix this? There's a jumble of cabling down there

I've got two OBD readers. One fits (but is very tight) one doesn't. Have you tried a different reader?

It would be good to know what their 'problem' was.
Did it plug in and not read or did it not plug in at all?
When they tried it on another vehicle did it feel different?
Was it plugged in but forced to one side?
Is the cable to their reader a right angle or straight?
Will a standard Alfa reader plug in?
