by 'custom' you mean he wrote a map for the 1.9 GT (for example) many years ago and now he uses the same or very very similar on every GT? ...and you can buy his maps in a different garage in another part of the country.
Lets be realistic!
Interesting point, and one that had crossed my mind a few times.
If Gus created the map a few years ago then he could justify the high price to cover his costs/time etc, now that the number of cars needing the same map is getting less (no new 159's for 4 years minimum) then he can justify the high price as there is less demand.
All valid reasons for the high price.
(and I'm certainly not going to argue the quality of his work)
but if I want a generic map at lower price and the remapper is prepared to edit it to suit my specific car (which is exactly what is happening to me now) Then am I any worse off?
I don't think so, and it's a LOT cheaper.
I'm happy with what I have, and will be able to give it a proper work out over the next few weekends.
If it all goes **** up then I'll be honest and post the results, but for now I stand by my original statement, if you have the money then go to Gus, if you don't then don;t feel cheated/bad about going cheap and cheerful.
