New generation grille for 159 / Spider / Brera

I keep looking at the front of the new giulia and thinking that an updated front grille for the 939 series would look ace. Anyone else been thinking similar?

It will of course mean some modification to the bonnet where the emble attaches with the chrome surround.

With a good CAD design surely these could be 3D printed on demand?

Nope, definitely not.
The oversize scudetto on the Giulia is the aspect I dislike the most.

Here's a quick mock up of what the current and a prospective replacement would look like. I have to say that I'm somewhat divided myself on this one. What is frustrating is that the Brera/Spider scudetto top(which looks best as it contrasts with the new emblem) has that black plastic on it instead of a deep recess - but this is necessary to maintain the same fixing points and fitment as the 159 fully chromed scudetto top.

Whoever signed off the Ph3 GTV/Spider probably thought the same thing.....
End result didn't look too good to most people's eyes.

That actually looks quite nice, looks cleaner without the horizontal chrome bars on the scudetto

Ah, I was thinking you meant a large scudetto like on the new Giulia.
To have it exactly the same size as it is now but in the new style looks ok to me, you might be on to something...

Chilling

I will see what other responses we have and if strong enough look into getting a sample made up.

I looked into that. The Brera one is less 'bling' than the 159 but still has the horizontals across the scudetto and it won't solve the alternative mounting of the emblem.
I'm probably being particular but I genuinely think that a more modern Alfa look can be achieved by a bit of development.

Just stick on of these on: http://www.novitec-sportiva.com/en/1...t-Bumper?c=153

With teh removed fog's and mesh grills with built in lower splitter it really brings the front up to date. Its on the todo list for mine with a brera grille as posted earlier.

Living without fogs is a no no for me. Dartmoor and Bodmin moor are a pain in the arse for fog. The noviteq bumper does look good though.

Wouldn't a Brera nose/scud give you 95% of the look you're hankering after?
It is a better looking front with the mesh behind the scud and also instead
of the plastic hexagon guff by the fogs ...

What they needed was this front end on the car IMO http://www.diseno-art.com/news_conte...cept-front.jpg

The 159/Brera sharknose looks way better than the new car, which looks good but the front end is what stops it standing out, like the 159 did when it launched, it was easily one of the best looking saloons at the time or indeed of the past 20 years, although some of the GTA mods using crosswagon wings and facelifted 156 bonnet and lights look awesome as well but thats an aftermarket job

The 159 front is pretty much perfect as is

Do like this bumper, but would it be better with a different mesh behind the grille etc in line with the Giulia?

What if you blacked out the horizontal bars on the lower scudetto but retained the chrome around the frame?

I'm going to have a go at removing the horizontal bars on the lower scudeto as a physical mock up. Will post back when complete later this month :-)

I wasn't overly keen with all the chrome (too much on a black car) so I wrapped the slats in matte black wrap.

The wrap matches perfectly to the alfa badge surround on the bonnet. And in my opinion, makes the front end even more aggressive

Before and after and finished front end....

I'm sorry, to each his own, but the matte finish just makes it look like any Seat Ibiza boyracer over here...

But if you're happy, that's what matters the most!

What about the chrome either side of the scudetto?
Did you run out of material?
Looks very odd!
