I've previously posted about my smokey 159 2.4 jtdm.. So not to go into all that again, I recently went to have the car mapped, and specifically to get the EGR and DPF removed/bypassed, based on a number of posts on here which indicated this is the best thing you can do for an older Alfa (mine is 6 years old). When I picked it up, I was advised that the care was running down on power, down to 170bhp from 210bhp standard. The car has been mapped to 196bhp, so at least I've recovered some of those horses. Interestingly torque was exactly where it should be, and since the map, ive got another 60ftlb.. So, this lead me to suggest either the maifold needed cleaning, or the swirl flaps needed replacing, which would require a manifold replacment, which would also correct item 1.. Expensive though..
Since I've only actually had the car 6months, and bought it from western alfa in Edinburgh, i decided it was time to return the car to them, and enquired to get this booked in. At time of booking, the service manager (who himself also has a 2.4 jtdm), advised that this was common in this model? and that the only fix was mapping the engine..
This doesn't sound right to me? Has anyone else experienced this, does this ring true with anyone?
any advice would be appreciated!
