The timing chain issue is an interesting one, when mine went on the Brera I was talking to Monza Sport and they said, yes they have done a few but not enough to say it was a problem, which I found interesting. We bought the Spider with low mileage which my wife drives (very gently) has not come up needing a chain (yet) it has done just under 50K. My Brera had a chain at 50K odd, the previous history is flaky up to when I bought it at 33K, I drive it with average enthusiasm. It will be interesting to see when the Spider asks for a chain.
Question for the OP though, apart from my comment about getting a problem fixed before searching for a power increase, is what sort of quality of work did the vending garage employ? Lets be honest, car traders dont like spending unless they have to do they?
Someone said to me, "so whats so special about an Alfa Romeo then?" I told him, "If you have to ask, you wont understand".
Driving Brera S 2.2, wife drives 939 Spider 2.2 and there is a 1972 Spider 2000 S2 in the garage for fun days.
