I've got both, and both have their advantages, if I want to dart round town, more of a go cart, then the Giulietta will win the day, but if I want more of a tourer, driving round country roads, smooth on the motorway, then the 159, it's got better seats too (and I prefer the driving position). On the later point I have a Ti 159, and Veloce Giulietta, so maybe the Giulietta sports seats are an improvement.
Personally I don't think the Giulietta is that more advanced, it's got the same blue and me system, the on board computer is pretty much the same too (i.e. rubbish).
Just looking at the stats, and the 159 with the 2.0 engine should be a bit quicker than your Giulietta (other way round for me).
