Exclamation Low oil pressure on startup (hot and cold)

So, i've had my Alfa for roughly two weeks now - and the todo list is getting longer. Perhaps i should not have bought it, but i felt a responsibility saving it from the hands of the previous owner and give it some much needed TLC.

It's a 156 2.0 TS with 190000km on the clock and was born in 1998.

Now, one issue which concerns me is that it sounds like a tractor for three seconds on startup (doesn't matter if the engine's hot or cold). Pretty much sounds like it takes a few seconds for the oil pressure to build up properly. But then, if the oil pressure was too low, i assume the low oil pressure light would light up on startup, which it does not.

So what do you guys think, any ideas? Wrong viscosity (even though that would be a concern for a bit longer since the oil doesn't exactly take 3 seconds to heat up enough to make that difference)? I don't know... let me know what you think of this. Would be much appreciated!

All the best,

It could be the variator. Usually changed with the cambelt.
AFAIK it doesn't get any worse, I just lived with it on my old TS.

You'll get more feedback if you post in the correct section!
