First post, but I need some help.
I found a car purporting to be a Brera S. It looks perfect, and having set up finance, I was about to commit to a deposit and a 300 mile journey to view and drive it, when I spoke to the dealer to confirm its heritage. I've checked out and driven 2 2.2s and a V6 so I know what to expect, but I got suspicious when I asked the dealer to confirm the presence of the mechanical bits. The car has Frau seats plus dashboard with S inserts, and 19" S wheels, but he could not confirm the presence of Bilsteins, Prodrive logo on the tailpipes, or the Prodrive mud flaps. Also, having got off the phone I looked at the pics again, and there is no S badge. So without needing to check the other suspension bits, I'm pretty sure this is a faker.
What I'd like to know to confirm is
1. Does anyone know the exact VIN range for the S? Given the production figures, this one looks like a very late model. If anyone can confirm their S VIN I'd be really grateful.
2. Was the Frau with dashboard red stitch offered on any later cars?
3. The car is on a 59 plate, but my first thoughts were that maybe it languished unregistered for a while. Has anyone got a car registered that late?
Any help at all would be appreciated before I waste any more of my time or the finance people's.
Obviously I don't want to make the car advert public as I don't think the dealer knew what he had, but it's not too hard to find on the big trade site.
