Having the car back, after 4 days, I had another Engine Failure light today. Fortunately, it's something else: the Lambda 1 (after cat) signal too low (possible short to ground). I suspect this might be the faulty harness, that was hand-soldered some time ago, and maybe the service might have messed up the connection while working now on the car.
Anyway, got a bit paranoid, and also checked oil level and smell. Level ok, but seems to have a strong, acidic smell.. not sure if it's petrol or burnt gas. Oil is still clear, transparent. Wouldn't it be black from the fuel coming through the cylinder and taking burnt crap with it ? Also, when I had the leaking injector, I had lots of white smoke. Now there is none. Idles perfectly. So my questions are:
1. Is there any good way to check it ? I read about checking for "rainbow" effect in the sun, or dripping a bit on a paper and checking for rings. I will try that tomorrow in the sun. Any other ideas ?
2. I was wondering, if one of the injectors was out, what's the chance that the other injectors will follow ? I should maybe try a reconditioning+testing on the remaining 3 injectors.
More info on the car: 130.000 km, bought it at 106.000 km. I change oil at 8-10.000, but I am not sure of the previous owner..I suspect somehow less frequent.
