The DPF does have a finite life, I read anywhere between 80-140k, in the short term you can try helping it, you can get some DPF cleaner, goes in the fuel tank, it lowers the temp T which the DPF regen works (thus cleaning it more), or Wurth do some stuff you spray in there before you do a forces regen.
In terms of the sensors, the one that sticks out the side of the DPF (at the slightly narrow point), is the temp sensor.
Suppose you could try removing the DPF/ sensors and checking their condition.
