Crazed TBI Oil filter deformed

Done the 3rd service now.. First one was done by a Alfa workshop in Italy, around 11000 KM/2012.. Filter was pretty crispy, probably because of age.
Changed oil, filter and no problem.. drove till today and when I removed the filter (I bought it from Alfaworkshop.co.uk, so OEM parts)
Did the job at 20000 KM on clock

Anyone had this before?? I usually put the filter in the filter cup first, press till it click then install. Had some discussion with others.. Some say this may been effected by PCV? Also.. I started the car in minus 40 Celsius.. if it matters

33000 KM now on clock (20500 miles)
Used Castrol 5W40 EDGE last time, 5W40 Magnatec this time (Better price though work)

No, we don't have Selena oil in Sweden.. At least not for non-workshop customers.
Edit: Some say I kicked the filter into the engine, oh well.
