I know it's impolite that a first post from a noob is just asking advice, but that's what I need if I'm to buy my first alfa.
I fell in love with the new spider ever since I first saw one. It absolutely has to be red and a 2.4 Diesel.
The problem is they are yet to fall into my price bracket, but i have the opportunity to purchase a 2008 red 2.4 30k miles FSH that is available until 12:00 tomorrow.
It has had a side impact on the passenger door and the rear 1/4 the passenger seat airbag has also deployed.
Pre accident value I put around £10-£11k car will be a cat D.
I'm quite handy with the spanners and my local garage does great body work for way less than your average garage.
The question is can anyone offer a calculated guess as to how much it will cost to replace the seat airbag, re-stitch the seat and presumably either re-set the airbag ecu or replace it and possibly the crash sensors?
I am willing to put in the effort to do what I can, however I also know that it is important to make sure the airbag system is done professionally and to a very high standard.
As a conservative estimate, a £10k pre accident value car that is repaired correctly on a cat d is worth say £7k. so if i can both purchase and repair it for £5k or less It would enable me a cheaper way into ownership.
If anyone has any experience in this Area I would appreciate advice
ideally before 12:00 tomorrow.
Again sorry for first post being advice. You never know, if I can make it work my next post maybe a here is my new car
