Hi All,

I'm new to this site. I would like to know if any of you guys have a problem with your car's sub frame? I have a 2006 159 with 125,000 miles on the clock. I would like to know if the sub frame attached is normal (wear and tear) or if it's in a critical condition.

your comments will be appreciated.

No pic attached but front subframe rust is a known problem some rust quickly some don't. Depending where you are based lots of people here will recommend a good garage to replace it.

If its too far gone (there has been a small number reported on here) it will need replacing.
If not spend a sunday afternoon rubbing it down and coating it in a waxoil type product to protect it.

As above, if not too far gone, rigorously wire brush corrosion.
But then apply Hydrate 80 | Corrosion Protection Coatings
After that has cured then apply protective layer (Waxoyll or BiltHamer - see Rust Removal | Prevention | Anti-Corrosion Treatments | Rust Converters )
Without treating the corrosion it will continue to degrade under the waxoyl.

Best done with under-tray, Wheel Arch Liners and bumpers all off
- also means you can treat other areas not usually noticed.
I have used the Hydrate-80 on several machines (Q4 and Spider plus others) and it comes recommended.
