Have a look round, shed loads of posts on it. Very few people have had issues with MOT's, and if in doubt, get the garage you purchased it off to MOT it!
Worth asking the question....has the car had a power map too at all? (post the reg number , the previous owner may be here), as you will need to have have mapped the ECU to remove the DPF and EGR.
If you do want to re-install a DPF, you will either have to have a MAP to get the DPF reinstated in the software. Almost 100% the EGR will have been done at the same time, so dealers will not be able to help unless you re-instate that too (you will then get problems with it after a while lol).
The the other option is to purchase a used DPF (look for breakers on e-bay), and drill the core out and install it (this is what myself and many others have done). Any tester will see the DPF in place and will pass it.
