First drive in my TI...got engine management light on. Help
Just bought a 2009 1.9 JTDM Ti. Did all my homework, knew exactly what to look for etc. Travelled 7hrs by train to get it and drove 300miles back home. In the last 3miles to my doorsteps (I know, 3miles) I was accelerating from the exit of a roundabout onto a dual carriageway to get it to 60mph and I lost power (not all of it) and the engine management light came on with a 'check engine' warning on the display.
Boost from turbo seemed to completely been cut off. Not sure if engine management had shut it off as a safety precaution. Pulled over, shut of ignition, restarted and same warning and engine management light came on.
Didn't notice any issue on test drive, but about 30minutes into journey home I could hear a slight tinny noise from inside while driving. Noise was in any gear, low revs, but when I gave it any power and it was calling turbo for a little boost it seemed to make noise. As car was new to me I was unsure if noise would be an issue. So I don't know if it exhaust related, blocked sensor (egr etc) or maybe something like the turbo.
Got it at a good price, but I fear the worse now and I'm completely gutted with myself.
Any help you can share, I would be so grateful.
