Another M32 gearbox made of cheese thread
Well my M32 has done another 30k+mls and again it's starting to show signs of failure.
Doesn't like quick changes from 2nd to 3rd (lots of crunching)
A weird noise when cold (only when in gear, any gear, even with clutch depressed, it only makes the noise when the lever is in a gear and the car is moving, it's a strange sound d that I can't even really explain)
Only does it when setting off for the first time in the day, for about 3 miles, then silence....
I have noticed a little movement in 6th when going on and off the throttle.
So I guess I need to start saving my pocket money again.
I havent noticed this being asked for a while so thought I'd resurrect a topic.
Has anyone replaced the M32 gearbox with an F40 gearbox?
I've looked on the Vauxhall forums and there is no new info past 2013, with only 1 reference that I can find where someone claims it's a fairly straightforward job of replace gearbox, mounts, driveshafts and gear linkage.
I know Ned mentioned a while ago that Autolusso had looked at it but thought the costs were prohibitive.
Well, I've already paid £500 for my first fix, £1900 for my second (including DMF and clutch kit) and will probably be looking at around £1k for my next fix. so if it had cost me £2.5k to put an F40 in first time round I'd be in profit now.
Anyone spent any more time looking into this recently?
Ned do you need a car to test a conversion on (we can come to an agreement on costs :-) , could be a very lucrative bit of research now)
