Test Drive - is this normal?
I tried out my first 159 Sportwagon yesterday, and I was a little disappointed.
It was a 1.9 16v JTDm Lusso (150ps?), fitted with the dealer Pioneer nav package.
In terms of ride comfort, it was amazingly good - driving over broken surfaces and speed humps was really comfortable.
But it had issues. It seemed to lack power compared to the car it was meant to replace (an unmodified 100ps Rover 45 diesel!), the paint had all but come off the roof rails, there was paint missing from the trailing edge of the bonnet, and the ends of the leafscreen were sticking up alongside the windscreen. The seals around the tailgate glass also seemed to have been dislodged at the ends. The stereo didn't work at all, but the fascia had been damaged by someone's attempt to repair it (dealer said they were going to re-fit a standard unit instead), but most worryingly there was a grinding/rubbing noise when going round roundabouts, and it seemed to moan when it settled down to idle. There were also buzzes and rattles from the centre vents. And the boot badge had discoloured quite badly.
The gearchange and steering also seemed slightly heavier than I was used to, but I'm thinking this is part of the character of the car, rather than an issue.
Does any of this seem normal, am I being too picky for a 72k mile car, or was I just unlucky enough to get a bad example?

Reason: Finger trouble.
