These are the GM parts and prices I had at the time. Mine's an early 2006 3.2 with roller (non-Morse) type secondary chains but not sure if chains changed around 2008

1 1 No. Pad Rear bank left hand chain slipper pad. 12623514 9.15
2 1 No. Pad Rear bank right hand chain slipper pad. 12600462 6.71
3 1 No. Pad Front bank cam chain pad (right side). 12600461 9.15
4 1 No. Pad Front bank left hand chain slipper pad. 12623513 9.15
5 1 No. Chain Primary cam belt chain. * 12597307 (NOT 12633451) 15
6 1 No. Pad Primary chain top pad. 12597417 8.54
7 1 No. Chain Stretcher Rear bank cam chain tensioner. Not Reqd 0
8 1 No. Chain Stretcher Front bank chain tensioner. Not Reqd 0
9 1 No. Tensioner Primary cam chain tensioner with pad. ACDelco 12609263 30
10 1 No. Pad Primary chain slipper (right side). 12586959 6.10
11 2 No. Chain Cam shaft chain. 12589011(NOT 12633452) 2x12=24

My sprockets and secondary tensioners were fine so didn't need to be replaced. Primary chain tensioner incorporates slider so needs to be changed. I had to pay about another 50 in shipping and duty. Hope this helps.

ps - please check all part No's before ordering - there's a lot of confusion about parts for the GM engine out there.

I found these guys cheapest

GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts

I got most of the parts I wanted off them but had to get the tensioner off ebay uk - also available here:
RockAuto Parts Catalog

I also did the water pump:
Water Pump VALEO 506866 - Water pump

and clutch:
https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=s...at=Clutch_Kits
whilst I was in there. The water pump is a common part to GM cars and the clutch is cheap if the DMF is OK.

hi all!

my timing chain stretched enough for timing chain to jump over tooth/teeth. It was the primary chain so now i have about 24 bent valves

i did already order timing chain kits mentioned above but does anyone know if i could use GM valves on my engine? If so, which motor has the same valves?

Ouch!! Out of curiosity was this the thick Morse type primary chain found in early (and possibly all) Alfa engines? Later GM engines used all thinner Morse type chains for primary and secondary which is a bit worrying.

Mine has the early type chain. What surprises me is that car has only covered 94k km (58k miles...) and has full service history from Alfa dealer with oil changes between 10k km. Chain lasts less than infamous timing belts... nasty
