159 Alarm sensitivity 'fix' - Gauze?
Regarding the post ona similar thread of:
'The dealer explained the problem as follows. Apparently, the 159 (unlike the Brera and other models) has ultrasonic sensors, which detect changes in air pressure (in this case, vibrations). As set at the factory, the sensors are too sensitive, but they are not adjustable at all.
So, the 'technical fix' is to put a bit of gauze over the top of the sensor, then replace the cover! The dealer reckons this seems to work ... we'll wait and see.
Alfa are apparently working on a new sensor, but the dealer reckons it unlikely that there will be a universal recall. Instead, it will be a service fix, and will have to be brought to the dealer's attention by the customer (I'm guessing that otherwise, they can't charge it to Alfa as a warranty issue?). So, we all need to mention this at service time - until they replace the sensors'
My friend is having this problem and would like to try to solve the issue himself......is this advisable? And if so, please can someone offer some advice as to how to do it, ie - what gauze?
Thank you in advance - Buel
