Advice please - Which 159 Sportwagon to buy?

I'm looking to buy a used 159 Sportwagon. I won't be doing heaps of miles and more of a joyful run around with kids/short commute car than any lengthy journeys.

Having had a GTV in my youth, I love Alfas and, of I'm correct, the 159 also have a good reliability record. What more could I want! Can't wait to get back into one.

Ideally I want a high spec/Lusso model and would welcome any advice on engine size etc. Also, given budget, I will be looking at a high mileage vehicle. With this in mind, what's the 'this has done too many miles' mark for used 159s?

Thanks very much in advance.

Can't fault my 3.2 SW - If you're not doing big miles and the one's you do are short journeys don't go diseasel.
Mine's a Lusso spec Q4 so softer springs but sporty enough ride. Feels safe under any conditions but especially in the wet.
I did the chains when first purchased as a DIY job so not expensive - an expensive job for a garage though so make sure they've been done if 100k pus miles. Otherwise car is pretty robust.
Mines a keeper

Not wanting to shell out too much money, and not doing too many miles is the perfect recipe for a 3.2 Q4.

I can echo no_grip's sentiment. My Lusso (on 18"s) has a great ride as well as good handling. Q4 really helps to push the heavy car through the bends.

Also as no_grip says, it is incredibly well-planted. I drove up to Dundee on the M9 yesterday in filthy conditions-loads of lying water. My 156 would have felt very skittish and floaty, but I was incredibly comfortable and safe-feeling. So much so that I really had to watch my speed.
Made the journey so much less stressful.
