Listening to the radio when parked

My Alfa radio was replaced by the previous owner with a Kenwood ICE system. Everything seems to work OK, the radio, CD/DVD, GPS, Bluetooth, all present and correct. The controls on the steering wheel work fine too.

Maybe it's because I'm a bit thick, but I can't seem to find how to turn the radio on without having the ignition on too, which doesn't seem right. If I insert the key, the whole dashboard lights up, and the glowplug starts to pre-heat. I don't want this if I'm just sitting parked up waiting for somebody. Without the key, nothing is available.

Is there a trick to this, or has my ICE sytem been wired in wrongly?

If it's wired to a "live when ignition on" wire it won't work unless the ignition is on.

Maybe the radio is supposed to work from that sort of wire rather than a continuos live.

Ask about it in the ICE lounge? I'm sure there are some knowledgable chaps in there that will be able to advise you.

Standard OEM radio works independently of ignition so maybe power feed modified to suit aftermarket unit.

As above there should be an ignition live feed, hopefully they used a canbus adaptor, if not may be just the wiring?

Any spelling/ grammatical errors are purely there to annoy!

Have you tried pressing the start button without your foot on the brake or clutch?
