On a recent long drive, I was on a steep hill and applied the brakes firmly and for a few seconds. A warning flashed that VDC and hill holder were no longer available. The warning stayed lit for a minute or so, then went out.
On an incline at the next lights, I found that hill holder was indeed not working and didn't work for the rest of the trip.
Today, I thought I'd see if a fuse had blown, as the clutch switch and battery had both been changed a year ago. All the fuses looked fine. I pulled every 7.5 amp fuse, even swapping them around to see if something else failed instead.
Upon locking the car, I held the lock button down for a few seconds to close the windows with the remote key. It didn't work. I inserted the key and warnings that the left and right safe window closing was unavailable. I removed all the 10 and 20 amp fuses for a look and swapped them around.
Then I got out a code reader I had never used before. The car hummed an electronic tune as all the bits were checked. I searched for codes: P0571 (brake switch A circuit) and P0564 (cruise control multi-function input A circuit) came up on the readout.
I pulled the key, then removed the code reader. Nothing else. Didn't erase any codes or anything.
I lowered the windows holding the switch for 10 seconds, then raised the windows holding the switch for 10 second. The windows now functioned as normal.
I drove to the car wash and, at the lights, the hill holder worked as normal. No warnings for anything.
I'm not complaining, 'cause everything works. I'm just mystified.
