Newbie question: Who's Gus?
Lots of cars will give you better mpg, but few will cause you to look back as you walk across the forecourt to pay for your fuel.
True, but if I was not interested in fuel economy I would not have bought the diesel (or I would have gone for the 2.4).
I'm mainly concerned that there is something wrong with it. It seems to run OK, but it does not feel as fast as the Passat (despite 30 more BHP). I put this down to smoother power delivery (the Passat torque all arrives in one big lump between 1500-2500 revs and runs out of steam after), but now I'm beginning to wonder.
Many people say that it is down to the 159 being heavy, but it is only (!) about 150kg more than the B6 Passat, which is the same as having a fat bloke sitting in the passenger seat (and there is already one in the driver's seat!)
Like I said, it is going to Autolusso in Dunstable tomorrow (is this where Gus lives?). I will look into their EGR delete and maybe a remap.
I've heard the clutch and gearbox on the 1.9 is weak. Is the same true of the 2.0? How does it cope with a remapped engine?
