Has anyone ever played with the working bits of their Spider hood ?

Mine sits a bit higher at the back on the drivers side, it seals ok but as soon as Im moving it lifts a bit and I can see daylight through the gap, its not the end of the world but it does bug me.
Something needs a slight adjustment but I dont know what.

If its not a DIY job then any rough ideas on where to go (Southampton area) and at what cost ?

I had a bit of a look last night and thought to myself "ooooooooo not too sure" so I decided to try Lusso's tighten the nut in the boot jobbie, that sort of worked a little bit but not enough, I finished well short of touching anything in the roof workings, I just know I'll **** something up so I looked on the net and found a few specialists fairly close by, Im going to try one in Eastleigh lunch time, try to get an idea of cost for hopefully just replacing the gas strut.

It does seem to be getting weaker so something needs doing before I find myself in trouble.

It is a real problem trying to find a soft top specialist up north also.
Mine's had at least a tiny gap at the rear driver's side for most of the time I've owned it - it gets slightly worse at speed.
I just live with it.

Had the roof down yesterday and it was the usual faff to put it up and down, but did manage it.
Like SpiderSaint, I don't fancy getting involved with the inner workings of the contraption for fear of making it worse .

I don't think that nut in the boot actually does a great deal, I think it just locks and unlocks the thing if the electrics give up.

I have a system that works, but once the hood's down there's always the worry that it'll not go back up .
So far I've been okay .

Do Autolusso do roof repairs as well ?
I do need to get it booked in for a Saturday surgery so they might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the link to the AHM in Hartley Wittney, thats ok if they can do it while I wait so I'll keep them in mind.

I know I could put it back in at Meridien Portsmouth but I was hoping to find somewhere independent nearby that I could get to know.

Thanks Fitz, I will try that idea but it's hard enough to find any convertable specialist, let alone one who specialises in this particular hood, most seem to be trimmers who do a bit of repairing instead of out and out repairers, I'll get there in the end.

It's a German hood. Find a BMW specialist if you want to throw money at the problem, they employed the same crap system on the earlier 3-series...
