Don't be put off mate ........
Would like to say to newbalfa - really pleased you got some resolve (all be it not all your money back - and certainly no compensation for the stress), but as toon says don't be put off, go again and follow your own advice
From what I have learned from this whole experience avoid high mileage diesel 159's as the egr and dpf if not blanked removed etc will be clogging up......
Not true I'm totally stock on 105,000 miles and just passed MOT no advisories.
.....Unless the vehicle has been regularly serviced (according to Alan at Woodcocks this is every 10 not 20000 miles)
OK that's right Mine is done every 12 months (varies between 9k and 14k)
....then there is bound to be issues with the inlet manifold coking up and if prior to 08 there may be issues with the swirl flaps.
As said above, totally stock and absolutely no issues - mines an 07 (again probably down to servicing).
Test drive it over speed bumps, this will reveal any tell tale knocks. Examine the paperwork thoroughly and see what has been done and more importantly what hasn't. If you have any doubts whatsoever, walk away (its hard because they're beautiful cars).
Spot on, especially the paperwork (mine had service receipts from Alfatune, that made my mind up on the spot
Finally research reviews of the place you are buying from on the internet. A simple search would have stopped me from taking that fateful drive to Rochdale. And never pay a deposit as it can be difficult to reclaim. You have no rights whatsoever in a private sale so make sure everythings 100% before parting with any money and expect to pay significantly less because of this risk. Hope others can also learn from my experience.
And as above spot on again!
And good/better luck with your next Alfa,
be wary of the dealer and not the marque.
TOP TIP, try and buy off an AO member as it will most probably have been well looked after, my next one will definitely be off someone on her - not looking yet so no PMs please!
