Blue&Me USB sorting by artist / album /genre

Just purchased a 159 TBI TI 59 reg. I tried inserting a USB stick with various albums and artists, but the only way I get media to play is by selecting Play Any Media. If I try to sort by Artist or Album, it tells me to "wait while media is updating", but then nothing happens and Blue&Me menu automatically closes.

The media is in MP3 format, copied straight from iTunes onto the USB and each song has its proper album / artist / genre labels.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also, is it true that I cannot use my iPhone or iPod Touch to connect to this early generation of Blue&Me. Is there any solution to this. I would be willing to pay up to 20 or so if this is available via a dongle or anything else?

Your best bet is to obtain an external Dension kit that plugs into the CD changer port on the rear of your standard head unit.

This will allow you to connect you iphone, carry out Bluetooth phone conversations and also Stream Bluetooth music too, you will however need to select music via the iphone.

This setup with iphone connection cable will set you back about 120.

I have been using this on my 159 it works very well with better bluetooth phone quality than the blue and me system and excellent music fidelity.

Hope this helps.

One downside is blue and me is horrible, put up with it for 6 months and biting the bullet and getting a new decent radio installed with Bluetooth etc built in

Try a different USB drive?

Also try copying the files directly instead of doing it via iTunes.

If the tracks aren't being seen it's possible the MP3Tags are "bad"
There are loads of old threads on how to fix them.

(For instance using :

Are the latest B&M updates installed?

This is the fix for the Apple screw-up:

Genuine Fiat And Alfa Romeo Blue&Me iPod iPad and iPhone Adapter 71805430: Car & Motorbike

I had a 2009 1750TBi It worked fine with a 1st Gen iPlod Touch and the above dongle.
Although audiobooks had a persistent click on them (Another Apple incompatibility issue no doubt.)

Blue and Me was the 1st system available on a car in this segment. it was good at the time but Fiat never really kept up with
the rapid change and UConnect is now the FCA system worldwide.

Behold! The TataTank!
