Re: Brera MPG
I have run a 2.4 diesel now for a couple of months and covered 5,600 miles, mostly motorway. The economy is, as you have commented, appalling. I knew I would get about 10-15mpg less than the superb 320d I replaced it with which used to regularly achieve close to 50mpg on a run. I am getting about 32 to work which is half B roads, half A's and motorway.
My colleague also bought a 2.4 diesel from a mondeo and he's hurting too. We would both be ok with it if we were getting 40.
As it is I think I'll be changing within 2 years I reckon - back to a 3 series as I've had 3 before and never disappointed. It'll probably fall apart before then anyway!
Beyond the car's poor economy, the engine sounds great and looks fantastic. That's it's only saving grace. They'll get hammered in the JD Power survey.
