Considering swapping my 159 2.2 JTS Lusso for a Brera. Should I?
I used to have a 156 2.4JTD Lusso, which was sadly written off in collision from behind. I needed to find a car quickly and cheaply and settled on a 159 JTS 2.2. I had it remapped to get rid of the well known "hesitation" problem, but never really fell in love with it (for a start, I'm not too fond on the silver colour, but coming from a JTD 2.4, I never got used to the heaviness / slowness of the 159 equipped with a petrol engine. In short, it's been a utilitarian experience, rather than a love affair.
Time to change
The 159 now has 79,000 on the clock. It's still OK, but after 3 years I am keen to get something newer / funkier. Enter the Brera. I've seen a few and I really love the way they look and what they come equipped with (including the sunroof).
Would it be worth swapping the 159 for a Brera?
- For those who have driven both cars, is the Brera more fun to drive (granted the same engine type and size).
- From all the Brera models out there, which would be the recommended one?
- Do the 2.2 JTS engines show the same "hesitation" problem as the 159?
- What should a potential buyer watch out for in a Brera with, say, 60,000 on the clock?
Granted I would have to probably pay £4k on top + my 159 in PX in order to get a Brera, is it worth it all in all considered?
I realise it's a slightly subjective question, but I hope the background I have provided puts it in perspective.
Thanks in advance
