Alfa Romeo Brera VPS issue
My Brera has an issue. It cut out whilst driving a few weeks ago and came up with Vehicle Protection System not available.
I code read it and found a problem with the brake switch. I cleared the code hoping that this would be the issue. The VPS error came up again, I code read it but there was no error with the brake switch.
After buying the correct leads I code read again and got the following:
P0504 - Brake pedal switch
B1002 - Power distribution
B1004 - TEG presence congruent
B1012 - Seat heating relay
B1016 - No steering lock authorisation from Body Computer
U1602 - CAN line error
B1027 - Ultrasound/hyperfrequency sensor
B1005 - TEG transponder
I also got one about the passenger mirror. I replaced the brake switch pedal and mirror, cleared all codes and read it again.
I now only get B1002 - Power distribution. The software says to check the connections and wiring, relays, battery disconnection or other reasons for loss of power on the steering lock module.
I have read that there could be a problem with the steering lock ECU. I phoned a company in Kent that specialise in ecu repairs. They quoted £230 - £300 but I am unsure if this is the problem or not.
I am not sure where to go/how to start getting this sorted. The car is undriveable as it cuts out when the VPS error comes up.
