My car is in at Alfa specialist garage at the moment and it sounds like a real head-scratcher as to why the car won't start. If anyone can suggest any avenues of investigation or similar experience, I'd really appreciate it.... getting desperate!
When it failed and left me stranded...
I had driven about 40 mins with absolutely no sign of any problems, parked up for 20 minutes and then had some clattering and shuddering when I started it up.
The clattering noise died down a bit after a minute but the juddering remained.
I tried driving the car very carefully in the car park but it was clear it was losing power and it died after a couple of minutes.
The engine is turning over, just not firing.
The best lead on a problem so far is that there is very low compression in all 4 cylinders?!
The cambelt and water pump seem to be ok - the timing was spot on when checked.
The EGR is quite new and has been checked
The Inlet manifold is quite new (Hasn't been checked yet)
The fuel system has been checked
The air pipes have been checked
The exhaust has been checked
