159 V6 Q4

159 V6 'acceptance' check.

I am picking up my new 159 on Sunday and reading the 159/ Brera poll and other horror stories I wonder if anyone has got a list of things to look for/ check on a new vehicle.

So far I have;
- engine bay for loose items, rattlying etc whilst engine is running
- general electrics (windows, air con etc)
- basic trim.
- paint scratches, swirl marks

If you are a member of AROC you will see in this months issue of the magazine a whole article on the predelivery checks now carried out on all Alfas when they come to the UK, before they are sent on to the dealer.

It should......be perfect, and I certainly hope it is

Re: 159 V6 'acceptance' check.

The major problems seem to be related to early delivery models. One year into production I would be surprised if there was anything much at all.

The biggest problem (Hunter's car) appears to be down to accident damage and poor dealership service.

Good luck with the car and I hope you enjoy it as much as I'm enjoying mine.

I used to enjoy PDI'ing, fitting heaters and radios, back in the 60's: Always had to present oneself to the customer, and often got a decent gratuity, most times. Any problems, back to the name tag who did the PDI.? Worked well.: All gone now though?

Re: 159 V6 'acceptance' check.

159 specifics:

Check the carpet around the fuel cut out under the passenger seat.

Check that the trim isnt loose on the B pillars at the seatbelts.

Check the paint protectors on the rear doors and arches ( 4 in total )

Rust in the 'gutter' seams around the boot opening (with boot open)

Check for a mirror on the drivers visor - mine aint got one!

Security of handle inside the boot where you close it.

Transporter paint damage on the inside rear of the back wheel arches.

........and that the brakes work....
