I've still not had a noticeable increase in smoke,
I have always had a puff of smoke when starting from cold, and I've always had a bit under hard acceleration, definitely no more since the remap. (but no less either)
I got an extra 50 torques which I know is now 50 over the rating for the gearbox (even though the standard 320 rips the boxes apart anyway) I'm hoping that the rebuild I had last time was with better bearings and generally a better build than standard.
If it is then I should be Ok. but just in case I'm going to try to remember to drive it using the gears as much as possible instead of using the torques and 6th gear to pull it up hills etc.
I don't know if this will work? if it does then it's all good, If not I'll be putting a new gearbox in before christmas. (there must be a way of putting an F40 box in a 1.9, even if it costs a couple of grand it would have saved me money already!)
I was going to put the fixitsan dongle on eBay but if I get a good offer on here then I'll sell through here instead, PM offers, If It's not gone by sunday it'll be on eBay.
It's one of the early dongles which Fixitsan built for me as a thank you for helping with his research. (I paid the going rate for it at the time even though he offered it FOC)
I know he did a lot of mods over the time he was making them so that they suited Vauxhalls as well as Alfas, but this is an early one, so it does the basic EGR fault code delete, and stops DPF Regens (there are 2 dip switches so you can turn each of these functions on or off)
occasionally the EGR faults show up on the dash, but they go again within a couple of minutes (I think fixit made them a bit more aggressive on later models)
If you disable DPF regens without removing or drilling through your DPF you WILL have problems, if you don't know the principles behind why and how it does what it does then don't bid.
I have had this for a couple of years and it has been in and out of my ODB port a lot (I ran it without drilling my DPF for ages and my constantly blocked DPF created lots of fault codes which I discovered I could temporarily clear by removing/reinserting the dongle) so part of the casing has snapped, this does't effect the device in any way other than looks.
If you want it drop me a line with an offer (if no body wants it I'll update this thread to let you know the eBay item number)
