All of that sounds a bit expensive and not DIY enough for me
As for being a pig to install... not sure where to begin on that. Haven't looked at ePer yet.
The problem with the Alfa illuminated kickplates is that they look a bit fragile from the eBay listing... the illuminated portion doesn't look well protected.
I am thinking of getting some of these which have the Alfa Romeo cut into stainless steel:
(although this is the Guilietta model he also does some for the 159 - the guy that makes them seems to spend all day cutting things out of stainless with a laser so I'm sure he'll post up more soon.)
From a brief discussion in German (thanks Google translate) with him it appears I should be able to remove the black backing and fit an EL lighting panel behind that. Some clear epoxy to the stainless laser cut plate and it should look pretty cool, and also be pretty bullet proof as the lighting will be protected by the stainless plate. Of course with EL lighting (e.g. EL Panel | EL Wire Craft
) it is easy to put different colour panels next to each other, I am kind of tempted to have a red Alfa Romeo logo with green stripes on either side
but it might look a bit cheezy... the drivers and light panels should be about another 40 quid, so not too expensive.
If I succeed I'll post up the results... this may be some time as our man will need to get his laser out ... will let you know what happens!
