my car is a 159 2.2 i'm referring to the new engines.yes i'm serious about doing it,only if it is worth to do it,as in if it doesnt add up to the price of a new 3.2.
well, i can see many issues that require careful consideration:
*159 is designed to accept the new gen 3.2 V6, and not the old
*new gen 3.2 has a gearbox/setup designed for Q4 AWD, and not FWD; may not be possible to adapt to FWD, and converting to full Q4 would be prohibitive
*VDC unlikely to be compatible with FWD 3.2, not sure
*aside from the engine, what else is required to 'make it work': new FWD gearbox and gearstick/shifter, ECU, radiator, oil coolers, upgraded electrics/fusebox, speedo, rev meter, other
i doubt your dealer has ever performed the swap, so probably put it into the 'too hard basket' or 'you can't be serious' box. but you could ask them to come up with a rough inventory of what's required and the prices. i'm sure they'd oblige.
but the biggest hurdle i think is going to be the gearbox, and retaining FWD. cos i doubt an off-the-shelf box would be available that bolts straight up, with the appropriate ratios. hmm, custom gearbox? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
how much are you prepared to spend?
