Brera 2.2- Water temperature problems!
I've just part ex'd my GT Q2 for a Brera 2.2 (09 plate) with 26k on the clock, I've used it two days (today being the 2nd) and already have concerns that I've done the wrong thing.. I was hoping someone can help me!
Today we had a frosty morning but then it's been blue skies all day, I drove to work which is 10 miles away and only noticed when parking that the water temp gauge was up in the red, there was no warning light or message on so come on here for some research and seen that there was a lot of posts about similar issues so seemed common.
I drove home and was watching the temp, it was a nice steady 90degrees until half way home when the gauge jumped straight up near the red zone, then fluctuated up and down, think it went back to 90 once but not for long. I tried driving at different speeds / gears in case it was me (haven't had a 2.2 engine before!) but it kept rising. As I pulled off from some traffic lights it went max red and the warning light and dash message came up. I pulled over and stopped the car, lifted the bonnet but there was no signs of overheating and the fluid levels were full. The fan wasn't even on.
I started the engine and left idol and just watched the temp start rising then jump erratically up to red again.
After allowing some time to cool with the engine off I continued back home but it was still fluctuating and went back into the red with warning lights- I carried on driving and it started to drop / fluctuate again. The fan was on then but as soon as I turned of the ignition it stopped.
I'm concerned whether this is a dodgy gauge or a genuine problem, because as I've only had the car two days I don't know it yet!
I also noticed just before the temp started rising coming home that the warning of ice came up, I didn't catch what the weather temp reading was but it did strike me as strange considering the day we've had
Can anyone give some advise?
