Update on the salvage 159 Limited Edition and Brera
I have just received the damaged 159 and Brera which I bought from HBC 2 weeks ago. I took quite a gamble at buying them unseen. At the time I was expecting the worst ie: engine damage/failure and other mechanical/electrical damage. Luckily that has not been the case.
On the Brera so far we have fixed the seat and curtain airbag and bought a front wing from euro car parts, all that needs doing now is to put back the seat and repaint the front wing, door and rear quarter panel. It is going for a vic check later on in the week and hopefully it will be back on the road next week.
On the 159 it is proving quite more difficult and expensive, still not as bad as i previously thought. I have been qutod so far around 400 pounds for a rear quarter panel, rear bumper, rear panel and back box from sherbourne spares, added to that will be the cost of cutting the old panel out and the new one back one which will probably cost around 500 pounds, and then the cost of repainting it.
I would appreciate the advice of anyone else who has done these sort of repairs in the past.
After getting the cars back on the road there will still be some work to be done on the cars.
Here I definitely the help of the members of this wonderful forum: What I have planned so far is to have the egr/dpf deleted and remapped. From reading the numerous well informed threads on this forum I have decided to have the work done either by Veloces which charge 400 pounds or autolusso which charge around 700 i believe.
Which one would you guys go for?
I also need to have a full service done and the cambelt changed because the cars came with no service history whatsoever and I have to assume that it has not been done. From the websites of Autolusso and Veloce they charge around 400-500 pounds. Now what I need to ask you is: do I also have to remove the swirl flaps from the inlet manifold and have them blanked at the same time as the cambelt change, or rather do it as and when needed?
I would appreciate any other advice on anything else I may have overlooked.
