Swirl flaps (why bother ?)

My swirl flap bar has failed - a common issue I know .

The "bearings" in the bar are oval so the bar is now off the car - it won't stay on the car for more than 2 days driving .

Should I bother replacing it ? - regarding performance and mpg

Theres an e bay replacement for 21 which includes the bar and improved bearings from i 6 auto in sheffield

Thanks in advance of any replies

I had mine deleted at Autolusso.
They'll take your inlet manifold off, replace it with one that had the swirls plugged and sort the ECU too.

... Well worth it.
If you've still got your EGR, get that removed too.

The reason the bar is failing is most likely because the flaps themselves are coking up and becoming stiff to move. I would go with full swirl flap removal and EGR delete at the same time. Trouble is it isn't a minor job. However, it will make an amazing difference to how your JTD runs. It will feel like a whole new engine.
