Reading all this cam chain discussion, gets me thinking if my timing chain in my 2.4 will need checking or changing. She is just done 94000 km. Is there a pre determined milage for a timing chain change?
Hey Jamezm - Did the exhaust actuator fix your issue ??
I have the same P0010 and P0011 error codes in my 2.2 159 Ti -
it also comes up with error "P0159 Lambda 2 signal below catalyst (slow)" - but I'm betting its being caused further up in the Solenoids as well.
Hoping you read and reply ??
RE: Alfa 2008 159 2.2 Ti - 6 speed manual
-Ok - Engine Light is now turned off without any other resets except doing as follows:
Disconnect the negative lead on the battery.
I then removed both the "Inlet" and "Exhaust" Solenoids (sitting above the Cambelt on top of the rocker covers) - Just unbolt the Red cover and you'll see the 2 sitting side by side. A firm but very straight pull to get it off - gently enough not to break the plastic tops.
I cleaned them both thoroughly - old dirty looking oil wiped up with clean cloths - and used electronics contact spray on the electrical connections and parts.
Even though I have renewed my oil & filters every 10,000km (previous idiot owners only did the handbook 20,000) so oil still looked grimy inside the cambelt area.
Oiled the solenoids up with clean oil - just dipping my finger in a few drops of oil and smothering on the part that goes into the engine.
Placed them back carefully.
Then I also used electronic contact spray on the Lambda sensor connections - all found against the firewall. Little yellow clips come off then unplug , spray (wait 10- mins spray evaporates) and refit.
Put my electronic key in - waited approx. (5) mins.
You will hear the Aircond go through a full recycle (does some sort of checking).
I then Started the car.
Engine light was still On at this stage. I moved the car about 10 meters to the end of my driveway.
Turned the car OFF. Waited (2) minutes.
Then Started the car again - NO ENGINE LIGHT !!! Running as normal.
See how long this lasts for !!
