So after about a month of roaming the forum looking for answers for a nice list of symptoms, i've decided to make a thread regarding the issue with my 2008 2.4L 159 Qtronic (no Q4, no DPF from factory). I've had a full engine swap last summer (due to major overheating), followed by an EGR full blanking plate (between exhaust and egr, not the square one) and delete (not a full remap) .
The symptoms were:
- Difficult Start when the car was cold (mornings and if left for hours regardless of outside temperature) with a big puff of white smoke upon startup.
- Wobbly boost gauge ( and actual boost) at medium acceleration, but sticks to 1.6 bar at full acceleration and high revs.
- Little to no juice at low revs (below 2000-ish rpms) no matter engine temperature
What i have tried was:
-Cleaning MAP/MAF/Boost control filter
-Blocking the Swirl valves (altho i'm not sure in what position they are locked)
-Replaced the battery (somehow the car had a 60A, now replaced temporarily with a 72A)
-Checked and mended every suspicious turbo control tube
-Replaced the glow plugs and relay
-Checked the axle shafts (just in case they were slipping and causing the vdc to silence the engine)
-Checked the injector looms
The funny thing was when i disconnected the EGR, the car would run fine until the limp mode kicks in. So ive reset the default engine map (no EGR delete), again the car ran fine for 5-ish miles then back to the same symptoms. So i've decided to remove the blanking plate and voila !
The symptoms mostly dissipated (with the exception of a slight overboost at 2000ish rpms, and i'm still waiting for tomorrow morning for the cold start test)
However, i am not too keen on letting my intake manifold and sensors take a beat from the exhaust gasses, so i'm still looking for a solution to fix this without getting the same symptoms.

PS: During my inquiry on the problem i've noticed the BOSE sound system depends on the same fuse as the cigarette lighter port. Just to put that out there
