159 Ti woes
Hello everyone, this is my first post on here, though I've regularly used the forum in the 2.5 years I've owned my 159 ti. In this time NSF and OSF lower and upper arms have been replaced (NSF upper twice), I've lost a spring at the rear and ruined a few tyres prematurely. The usual stuff. Other than this the car has not given me any problems. Car has circa 90k miles it's the 2.4 JTDM.
I wonder if anyone can offer an opinion on this one though.
I was advised that OSF driveshaft needed replacing at last inspection. There was a whining noise from about 55 mph upwards, that was independent of gear selection and did not go away with clutch pedal was depressed. There was also a low speed clicking noise when the vehicle was initially put under load which was particularly apparent with lock at manoeuvering speeds.
I associated both these noises with the driveshaft, which has just been professionally refurbished (as could not afford the new one!). The CV joint was part of the assembly that was refurbished.
I've absolutely no reason to believe the refurbishment was not done properly. However the whine and the clicking noise remain after the assembly has been refit.
I'm considering a wheel alignment to rule that one out for the whine (as read on here), but have no ideas about the clicking if not the driveshaft/CV and don't see much mention of anything similar in other threads.
What else should I be looking at?
