My 159 is driving quite well, except for the accelerator lag in automatic mode. Lags quite badly when I least want it too, like intersections ect.
Strange thing is the lag is very minimal if I drive it using the paddle shift.
Does anyone know why this is?
Q. Is the car remapped and does it have the EGR still active?
The Auto box needs torque to work properly and the EGR vastly reduces available power below 2000RPM whcih creates a pretty heavy lag from take off on this gearbox. So much so, I lasted exactly 5 days before I had it mapped and the EGR & DPF removed. Part of the remap also adjusts the pedal map so that it is much more aggressive allowing the torque converter to load up fast and essentially makes it pull away as fast if not faster than a manual through 1st / 2nd.
I find the qtronic can be slow to pick up pulling out of junctions. I think this is a combination of a slow torque converter pickup and possibly drive being applied before the engine has turbo pressure. All guesses of course. I found cleaning the MAF sensor greatly improved this as the engine performed much better. The qtronic definitely is not designed for the traffic light grand prix but once going is perfectly fine.
The Auto box is actually pretty epic at the traffic light grand prix so long as the engine is putting out the right power. The more power this gearbox has to play with the better it performs. It will happily spin the wheels all day long from standing if you turn off the traction control!
I have the Qtronic and find it very slow to pick up. Also I get a rattling noise every so often when driving off and lifting off. If it was a manual I'd say it was a dual mass flywheel issue but as ita auto it cant be.... any ideas..?
Rattles........ you sure its the gearbox? all of the parts are immersed in oil so a rattle would be hard to hear??? Wobbles, vibrations, squeals, jerky / rough up shifts and down shifts & flairs etc are all gearbox problems, most of which fixed with an oil change service.
More likely its prop shaft / spider bearing / suspension component / steering component / engine mount / exhaust / anything that could vibrate or move coming on or off load.
